A Few Bumps in the Road in Thailand

So it turns out that I am really not talented at riding motor bikes. I should have known, I am not good at that type of thing in my regular life, so why I thought I should rent one in a busy town in Thailand was beyond me. But I did. And they gave me a sport bike, meaning it had lots of power and went really fast. Glad to know I look like a Fast and the Furious type! So, I get on the bike and try the power. I turned it about a millimeter and the bike lurched in front of me, practically hurling me into ongoing traffic! Thankfully no one was coming and I was ok. So after riding around for about 10 minutes, me and my friends stopped and had to turn across the road. I still hadn't gotten used to the super sensitive power control of my ultra fast sport bike, and as soon as I pushed the gas, the bike quickly lurched ahead with me on it, directly across the busy street. By this time I was in a panic and couldn't regain control, and I crashed directly into an outdoor restaurant! The bike smashed into a concrete table, sending the table top rolling onto the ground and the concrete chairs flew in all directions! Me and the bike skidded along the ground until we came to a stop in the middle of the restaurant. All the staff and some nurses from a clinic across the street rushed to see if I was ok. My head was still clouded with disbelief of what just happened as I tried to get up and assess the damage.

Thankfully I was fine just a few scrapes and bruises on my feet and legs. Also, thank you baby Jesus that there weren't any people eating in the restaurant at the time!!! I know that it could have been a lot worse, so I am really thankful that nobody got hurt. The staff of the restaurant were so nice, and weren't even mad at me. As they rearranged their table and chairs, my friends came and got me and we just got out of there as fast as possible. I was so embarrassed though. I think the most damage was done to my ego! I ended up having to pay about $300 to repair the bike too, which also hurt the wallet.

A few days later in Koh Tao, I had another motor bike accident, but this time someone crashed into me and my friend Graham while we were innocently walking down the street. Well, it may have been 3 am, and we may have been a little bit tipsy, but that's why we weren't driving! Anyhow, a girl came around a corner, side swiped Graham who was in front of me and then clipped me on the shin. And so I added another big bruise and scrape to the mess that used to be my nicely tanned legs, dammit. My first ever tan, and I'm all scabbed up :( These motor bikes are a serious health hazard people!

Then the next day we went out to eat at a restaurant and noticed a cute big gecko climbing the walls. We kept watching as he manoeuvered to the top of the wall right beside our table. He then kinda lifted up his tail, and I thought out loud to my friends Ananda and Rachel, "what if he decided to poop right now...??" and sure enough, a big blast of watery gecko poop sprayed out of his butt and landed right on the edge of our table right beside our food! Haha it was so gross! We kind of lost our appetites after that...

Gecko thinks it's sooo funny that he pooped on our food... damn you Gecko, damn you!
